After 20-plus years of newspaper industry experience, Frank has embarked on a new phase of his communications career, working with clients to use the latest technology to reach their audience. Frank, who was born and raised in Ventura County, previously worked for such publications as the Ventura County Star, the Oxnard Press-Courier, the Los Angeles Daily News and the Orange County Register. He is a lifetime member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, a member of the Vision Committee of Destino: The Hispanic Legacy Fund, and a past board member of El Concilio del Condado de Ventura. He earned business editing, Latino marketing and other certificates from the American Press Institute and has trained journalism students and interns in writing, newspaper design and video production. In June, he will be receiving a recognition award for his diversity efforts in Ventura County from CCNMA: Latino Journalists of California. He has received recognition awards from El Concilio (2006, 2007), Appreciation awards from the Ventura County Promotoras y Promotores Foundation (2007) and a Congressional Recognition Award presented by Rep. Lois Capps (2004). |

With more than a decade of experience as a bilingual editor for newspapers, magazines and web sites, Mariana has skills in the areas of managing publications and budgets, meeting deadlines and working with a variety of individuals and organizations. She is also a proven writer, interviewing such personalities as Antonio Banderas, Paulina Rubio, Viggo Mortensen and groups such as Maná, Molotov and Kinky. Born and raised in Mexico City, Mariana previously worked with such publications as the Ventura County Star’s Mi Estrella weekly newspaper, La Opinion and Hoy. She was awarded the Entertainment Editor of the Year 2004 from Cacique de Oro International, was a mentor for the APTRA Journalist Academy (2006) and a Judge at the Anaheim Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association Convention (2008). She is fully bilingual with skills as a writer, Spanish-language translator and copy editor. |

After decades of experience in the newspaper industry, Carlos is putting those skills to use as he develops new forms of communication in English and Spanish. Carlos previously worked with such publications as the Ventura County Star’s Mi Estrella weekly newspaper, the Daily Press in Ashland, Wisc., El Nuevo Herald in Miami, La Prensa in Orlando, Fla., El Mundo in San Juan, Puerto Rico, The Orlando Sentinel, the Miami News, the Miami Herald and the Tampa Tribune. He’s a graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a certificate in Latin American Studies, has graphic design certificates from the American Press Institute, has received design awards from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, the Inland Press Association, and the Orlando Press Club and received an honorable mention in the Society of Hispanic Journalists photo contest. He is fully bilingual and skilled in InDesign, QuarkXpress, Photoshop and other computer programs. |
